This "Olympic" European International Chess Set by Sunrise Handicrafts is well made and great looking.This is a hand carved wooden chess set which comes in its own box which doubles as a fold out chess board. The details on the pieces and board are exquisite.It comes with letters and numbers inlaid as well. The chess pieces themselves are fairly large but unweighted, and each piece has its own designated storage place within the board. This helps that the chessmen won't rattle when you carry the game or do not loose any piece.This chess set really looks very lovely on the coffee table or when not being played, it makes for an excellent decor piece and will match just about any kind of decor.
Now for materials: Board is made from beech and birch. Felt bottom chessmen are made from hornbeam and sycamore.

The board measures: 15.79" width x 1.06" height x 15.87" depth.
Squares measures: 1.69" x 1.69"
Chessmen measurement : King: 3.43", Queen: 2.95", Pawn: 1.61", Checkers: 1.97" x 1.97".
Now for packaging and shipping: It was packed nicely in a box, and the shipping was also very fast. I got this chess set in two days after placing the order. Overall If you are looking for an out of the ordinary, decorative chess set that is "artisan made" and is highly playable this fits the bill nicely. It was priced reasonable, luckily i bought this at a discounted price for testing and my unbiased review and trust me the discount in no way effect my review. This sure is a great chess set, the craftsmanship is excellent. We were so impressed by this set we purchased a second as a present for a family.
